Finding the Balance

Today was a tough day. Tomorrow we are going to support a really sweet little girl in her horse riding competition, and we are taking some picnic-type stuff along with us. This includes some horse-themed cupcakes that I had to bake today. They turned out pretty sweet, and it was great to be baking again, but being surrounded by all that chocolate just didn’t end well. I returned to my room and ate my favourite: a Cadbury Creme Egg… Which happened to be next to my Hong Kong Koala biscuits, so I ate a packet of those. Those tasted so good that I ate a second packet too. It just got really out of hand.

Now, I know it’s not as if that’s a huge amount of food, but it’s exactly what I am struggling with at the moment. I just couldn’t bring myself to say no to that second packet of biscuits! I have been craving a good biscuit for a while, which is how I justified it to myself, but they certainly did not satisfy my craving. What I actually feel like at the moment is something like these bad boys, but I will absolutely not buy or create those because I know that will end badly…

On the plus side, I ran a personal best Park Run today. Well, PB for a South African course at least, and according to my running app, it was 60m short of the 5km it was claiming to be, but it still boosts that self esteem and all that, so I am totally claiming it! I even got my mom to run with me today, and she totally enjoyed it! Loving my running at the moment, I just wish I could shake this stupid cold.

In the meantime though, I am maintaining some light strength training; I am taking my brother to the gym tomorrow, and we shall see how that goes. Check out my Instagram for updates on that, I am sure he’ll be very keen to show off his guns, which is what he is begging me to train him in. If there are no posts, it is because he changed his mind about getting up at 6am on a Sunday morning, which is highly likely! I could do with the exercise, but I certainly won’t be forcing the issue. After all, we wouldn’t want to be late for the horse riding event!
